Overview

The Elementary Education - Literacy Teacher Professionals concentration from Bridgewater State University provides a seamless pathway to either of the MEd in Reading programs, leading to professional licensure (grades 1-6) through early admittance to the College of Graduate Studies. Students in this program can take their first graduate course during their final semester of undergraduate course work. The purpose of this program is to develop general education teachers who have an in-depth understanding of literacy practices in the elementary school classroom.

Your Bachelor of Science in elementary education from BSU will help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to teach children in grades 1–6.

The majority of BSU alumni with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education teach in public schools. Once you complete your undergraduate elementary education degree, however, you may choose to teach in private or parochial schools, community programs, tutoring organizations or other institutions.
