Overview
The Social Work Major is offered by Mississippi College. At the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Mississippi College, we approach our discipline from a unique Christian perspective.
Key Facts
We are dedicated to nurturing the human dignity of every individual, and fighting for the principles of equality, justice, and freedom. We encourage students to examine their own values, their relationship to their social environment, and their role in the community, from a global perspective that’s inspired by faith. The Social Work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Small classes mean students receive more one-on-one attention and build strong mentoring relationships with instructors, leading to better learning inside and outside the classroom. Social work students are required to complete a 450-hour internship and the social work licensure exam before graduation. Students have interned at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Department of Human Services, Hospice Ministries, MS State Hospital, Gateway Rescue Family Shelter, Jackson Public School System, domestic violence centers, and others.
