The History Major is offered by Mississippi College. The Department of History and Political Science at Mississippi College strives to inspire our students to greater intellectual curiosity and a stronger commitment to Christian and democratic ideals.

Students explore the historical progress of civilization and the diverse philosophies of government. In so doing, they build their skills in critical thinking and their knowledge about the world we inhabit. History students connect their learning to the real world through field trips related to Mississippi history, the experiential learning course in geography at Heifer International, and internships with local and national businesses. Participate in Phi Alpha Theta, the honor society dedicated to promoting the study of history. The organization works to encourage higher standards in research and teaching and facilitate the exchange of ideas.

Complete an application.

Send us your transcripts. Freshmen should request that their high school mail an official copy of all high school work completed to date to the Office of Admissions. Upon graduation, applicants must have a final transcript sent including the date of graduation, a signature by a school official, and an official seal.

Submit your test scores. Official ACT, SAT, or CLT test scores for all applicants who graduated from high school within the last five years must be received directly from ACT or SAT headquarters or from the student’s high school.

Send us your immunization certificate. Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) Immunization Certificate is required. One MMR immunization in the past ten years or two in a lifetime are required. This document can be faxed, emailed, or hand delivered to the Office of Admission.
