Overview

The Broadfield Social Studies Education Major is offered by Concordia University Wisconsin. By looking at the world through the various lenses of economics, history, geography, political science, social science and psychology, you’ll prepare yourself to help your students do the same. A degree in secondary education with a major in Broadfield Social Studies will give you a clear awareness of modern and historical perspectives on these subjects and ready you for a life of service as a teacher. Through a blend of the social sciences, history, and humanities, you’ll learn to guide your students through a myriad of perspectives and social structures, and be able to adapt such lessons for the next generation of thinkers. Perhaps most importantly, you’ll understand how to help your students discover how people relate to each other, how we interact as groups, and how we organize our thoughts, religions, and governments. With a foundation in social studies, your students will be able to understand the world around them, and their place in it. Students who desire licensure in another state must contact their state department of education for details about whether or not this coursework will meet state requirements. Work with experienced professors, and benefit from the individual attention of a low student-to-faculty ratio. Gain real-world experience in local classrooms from day one. An individual coordinator will be assigned to you personally to help ensure your success in the program, which offers a broad range of content specialties you can choose from.
