Overview

This concentration requires several courses that cover a broad range of petroleum and petroleum industry-related topics. The Geosciences with Concentration in Geochemistry degree at University of Houston Downtown is designed to meet the needs of those interested in graduate work in geology and careers in the oil and gas industry that requires knowledge of petroleum-related issues.

Additionally, the geochemistry degree program will prepare students for rewarding careers through smaller classes, faculty mentoring, modern labs, hands-on experience and flexible class options. Students are encouraged to participate in an appropriate field experience or research activity as part of their curriculum.

Graduates who earn a BS in Geosciences will be able to:
