Overview

The Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree from Brigham Young University Idaho is a good fit for students who want to work in an engineering discipline, but also want experience working with the production equipment. MET students will learn some of the tools needed to make a company’s products better, faster, and less expensive.

Program Learning Outcomes

Apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined manufacturing engineering technology problems appropriate to the discipline
Design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined manufacturing engineering technology problems appropriate to the discipline.
Determine appropriate manufacturing solutions, including methods and processes, to produce a product.
Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and identify and use appropriate technical literature.
Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.
Function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
Recognize ethical responsibilities in engineering technology disciplines.

Cumulative unweighted high school grade point average (GPA).
BYU-Idaho currently operates with a test-optional policy for ACT and SAT in the admissions process. This practice will continue through the application for Winter 2024 at minimum. Students are still encouraged to test and submit scores, as BYU-Idaho uses these scores for placement in freshman-level English and Math courses.
