Overview

Students of Theatre Arts Major receive a solid foundation in theatre history, literature, and practice. Our program encourages a well-rounded education by providing students with experiences in all aspects of theatre practice. Our program intentionally elevates and amplifies the practices and knowledges of artists of color throughout history. Students of California State University San Marcos experience a highly engaging curriculum including classes in physical theatre, on-camera acting, playwriting, design, LatinX theatre, African American theatre, and theatre for social change.

Internships with local award-winning theatres are provided and encouraged. Students emerge from our program prepared for careers in acting, design, teaching, and arts leadership.

Theatre Club

The Theater Club is an organization dedicated to giving students more opportunities to learn and grow in the performing arts. We work with the theater department faculty to give members performance and production opportunities such as a Night on Broadway, and a student run play.
