State University of New York Plattsburgh offers the only Spanish Language Broadcasting major of this kind in SUNY and is one of only a handful in the nation.

You will learn how to reach Spanish-speaking audiences through television, radio and online podcasts. While proficiency in Spanish is required to enroll, you will take Spanish courses to perfect your language skills and learn about Hispanic and Latin American culture. Courses in audio and video production as well as communication theory will give you the knowledge and skills to succeed.

We are looking for a solid, college-preparatory background. In New York state high schools, that means Regents or Common Core coursework.

Successful applicants have an academic average of “B” or better. Students with good courses, but “C+” grades may be considered as “borderline”.

All first-year applicants should submit a recommendation from a school counselor and/or teacher.

Essays are an applicant’s opportunity to communicate to admissions in their own voice.
