Students at Utah State University learn in nursing skills laboratory and clinical settings such as acute care hospitals, extended care facilities, ambulatory clinics, home care and other health related environments. The Program is applying for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) and approval by the Utah State Board of Nursing.

Students have three options in nursing education at USU. Students can attend a one-year program to obtain a Certificate of Completion in Practical Nursing, that if successfully completed, allows students to apply for LPN licensure and enter the job market; or if they are interested and qualified, can obtain an Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Nursing, that if successfully completed, allows them to apply for RN licensure. Currently, licensed LPNs who choose to continue their nursing education can also apply for entrance into the associate degree program. Students also may attend a four-year Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) pre-licensure program, that prepares them for eligibility to apply for RN licensure. Enrollment in the three programs is limited and competitive.
