Medical Laboratory Scientists are medical professionals who perform laboratory diagnostic tests on a variety of bodily fluids and tissues using scientific areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking. The results of the analyzation and evaluation aid physicians and other health professionals in both the diagnosis of disease and the management of health.

This Medical Laboratory Science program begins with student admission as a West Liberty University student for the freshman and sophomore years. During that time, students complete general college requirements in areas including liberal arts, chemistry, and biology. After successful admission to the MLS program as juniors, students complete the required in-depth MLS courses.

As seniors, students then complete clinical laboratory clinicals at local affiliated hospitals. After successful completion of the clinical portion, students finish the remainder of their senior level courses required for both graduation and the board certification examination.

Applications should be submitted during the first semester of the senior year in high school along with the high school transcript.

Students from non-English speaking countries must provide evidence of English language proficiency.
Certified Copies of all Official Academic Records must be submitted in the original language of issue as well as the certified English language translation of these academic records.
Applicants who have studied in the United States are required to have the institution(s) in the United States send their official transcripts directly to West Liberty.
All international student applicants, including first-time freshmen and degree seeking transfer students, must have all previously earned credit evaluated in order for West Liberty to award the transfer of credit.
