Overview

Developed in collaboration with industry leaders and with support from the Department of Defense, the Ferris AI program is the only bachelor of science program in Michigan, and one of only a handful in the United States.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) program prepares students for careers in one of the fastest growing fields, with focus areas in Cybersecurity, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing. This includes using voice and other biometric data to control personal, household, transportation and industrial applications. Students learn how to define, design and deliver solutions using various AI technologies and capabilities in an ethical and meaningful way.

Program Outcomes

Understand how to apply artificial intelligence learning models for action selection or prompting, decision making, and interaction with humans or other models.
Analyze, design, develop and implement appropriate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques for addressing problems involving data, vision, perception, and projection.
Demonstrate mastery of a defined Artificial Intelligence (AI) skill set and knowledge area.
Utilize continuous improvement strategies for personal and professional growth.
Effectively work and communicate as an ethical member as an individual or team member, recognizing the moral and legal implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
The AI program is the only Bachelor of Science program in Michigan, and one of only a handful in the United States. Being a pioneer in new technology is a long running tradition at Ferris State University, and the AI program is yet another in a long list of high-tech STEM programs at Ferris.

All students applying for admission to the Artificial Intelligence program will have to submit a 750-to-1,000-word essay that addresses the following:
Who they are and why they desire admission to the Artificial Intelligence program.
A description of a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution, or experience.
A description of someone that influenced them and why.
