Overview

The Social Work program at Winthrop University prepares students to move directly into social work positions in a wide range of settings, engaging in generalist social work practice at the individual, family, group, community and organizational levels, or to pursue graduate social work education. The program is nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), allowing graduates to become full members of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

Curriculum and Learning Opportunities

The Bachelor of Social Work Program offers a generalist practice focus. Graduates are prepared to utilize the person and environment construct in working with individuals, families, groups, and communities. Generalist practice social workers value diversity, employ the use of professional ethics, and work to improve social and economic conditions.

Undergraduate applicants (beginning freshmen and transfers) must submit official transcripts, mark sheets and examination certificates in their native language for all secondary and/or postsecondary coursework, along with certified, literal (exact) English translations for documents not originally issued in English.
Official and original results of any standardized tests, such as SAT and ACT examinations

A non-refundable application fee of U.S. $60 must accompany the application.
