Overview
The Mathematics programme at the University of Denver provides a comprehensive framework for students to master complex problem-solving and deductive reasoning. This curriculum is designed to equip undergraduates with the quantitative expertise required to excel in diverse professional environments and advanced academic research.
Students can choose between different degree tracks depending on their career goals and interests. The Bachelor of Arts offers a flexible approach that pairs well with other disciplines, while the Bachelor of Science provides a more intensive focus on mathematical theory and applications for those seeking technical depth.
The department also offers specialised concentrations for students with specific career trajectories.
Why Mathematics at the University of Denver?
The institution provides a supportive environment through the dedicated Math Center, which offers resources and advising to ensure student success. The department is housed within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, fostering a collaborative atmosphere for those pursuing double majors or minors.
Distinctive teaching features include the opportunity to pursue Distinction in the Major. Students can follow specialised tracks in Analysis or Algebra and complete an honours thesis to demonstrate their research capabilities. This academic rigour ensures that graduates are highly competitive for positions in elite graduate schools.
The university maintains active research areas and hosts various colloquia and lecture series, such as the Herbert Howe and Richard Ball lectures. These events connect students with global mathematical discourse and provide insights into the latest developments in the field from visiting scholars and resident faculty.
