The Coastal Environmental Science major from Louisiana State University has a low teacher-student ratio, so small classes are guaranteed. - Applied Coastal Environmental Science (ACES): ACES is geared toward students who plan on employment in industries with coastal environmental risks, NGO’s, academia, or government agencies.
- Coastal Meteorology: Ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in meteorology, especially regarding coastal impacts and weather disturbances.
- Environmental Health: Ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in environmental and/or public health sciences as a medical doctor, as a veterinarian, or in the research fields of disasters and environmental exposures to diseases. We also offer a 3+2 fast-track program that cuts a year off the standard six years it takes to earn a bachelor’s in coastal environmental science and a master’s of public health.
- Environmental Law: Ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in environmental law, environmental policy (government or private), as well as environmental consulting. We also offer a 3+3 program that cuts a year off the standard seven years it takes to earn a bachelor’s in coastal environmental science and juris doctorate as well as provided a solid training in environmental sciences and STEM disciplines.
- Environmental Science and Research (ESR): ESR is geared toward students looking for innovative, collaborative careers where they can apply their talent, education and curiosity.

General requirements
- $50 non-refundable application fee.
- International students who have never attended a post-secondary education institution will apply as a freshman (first-year student), and must have the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma with an academic average equivalent to a “B” (3.0 or better on the U.S. 4-point grading system).
- The “academic average” is determined by averaging the grades of secondary school academic courses, excluding nonacademic courses such as physical education, vocational/technical courses, religion, art, music, etc.
- Students must submit complete official records for the secondary level of education and are strongly encouraged to submit ACT or SAT scores.
