Balancing Theory and Practice

The core courses of the Intercultural Studies program of Taylor University draw from the fields of missiology, Christian ministry, anthropology, and biblical studies. You can choose electives from a number of other fields to shape the major towards your own individual interests and goals.

The courses balance theory and practice, teaching both collaborative and critical thinking to help you identify and use your diverse spiritual gifts, passions, talents, and skills to impact the world.

You'll learn from faculty members with decades of academic and practical experience, who are part of large, influential networks in their fields. They are committed to the interdisciplinary approach of the Intercultural Studies major and how it will broaden your perspective on where and how you serve.

Career Opportunities with an Intercultural Studies Degree

Intercultural Studies will provide a foundation to pursue careers in cross-cultural service in a variety of vocations through holistic NGOs, mission agencies, denominations/churches, TESOL, participatory community development, refugee/immigrant services, tentmaking/marketplace ministry, social entrepreneurship, and more.

If you are planning to continue your studies after completing your undergraduate degree, Intercultural Studies will prepare you for graduate school through exposure to key missiological scholarship, primary sources, intercultural competencies, and a capstone service-learning ethnographic research course.
