Overview

Sustainability impacts all aspects of global business, politics, economics and society, creating a need for leaders who have the skills and knowledge to address issues such as climate change, reliance on traditional energy sources, water issues and the demand for socially and environmentally responsible products and services.

The B.S. in Sustainability is available as a double degree online through Oregon State Ecampus. Current Oregon State University students can complete this degree program as an addition to their primary degree program. The degree is designed to complement all OSU degree programs and previously earned bachelor's degrees.

Learning Outcomes

Describe the structure and interdependence of social and ecological systems.
Interpret data critically and demonstrate understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of data as a decision support tool.
Design and evaluate responses to conditions that compromise sustainability by employing systems thinking. Envision future scenarios in which natural environments and human communities are healthy and resilient.
Describe the use of sustainability assessment tools and the measurement of sustainability outcomes across all dimensions of sustainability.
Communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups using oral, written, and other modalities. Demonstrate the ability to discuss complex sustainability concepts and problems with people from a variety of disciplines, cultures, and perspectives.

3.0 GPA High school diploma or IB Diploma with minimum overall score of 26 or IGCSE 5 subjects with a 3.0 average using NCAA scale (9-7/A=4, 5-6/B/C=3, 4/D/E=2, F/G=1, 3-1/U=0). Subjects must include Math, English, Science, 2 electives.
SAT: evidence-based reading/writing score of 560
ACTE (ACT English) - 21
Two English composition courses (Writing 121+) with grades C- or better or one English composition and one Speech Communication course (Communication 111+) with grades C- or better, all from a US university.
