Overview
To prepare for your Graduate Safety Practitioner designation (GSP), you’ll learn to identify and evaluate potential work environment hazards and take steps to resolve them.
The Graduate Safety Practitioner designation is integrated into the Safety Management bachelor’s degree program curriculum, so you’ll save you time – and money – by completing both at the same time. This professional credential also gives you an advantage in high-demand safety management jobs, with the potential to earn a higher graduate safety practitioner salary.
University of Central Missouri’s bachelor’s degrees in Occupational Safety - Safety Management are open to full- or part-time undergraduate students. Occupational Safety degree courses are offered on campus in Warrensburg, Missouri, but you may choose to take some courses in hybrid and online formats. Summer courses are all offered online.
Program Learning Outcomes
At the time of graduation, students with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety will be able to:
- Anticipate, recognize and evaluate hazards for the development of control strategies through the application of math, science, business and risk management concepts.
- Formulate, design, implement and evaluate safety, health and/or environmental programs.
- Communicate professionally both verbally and in writing as an individual and as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Identify and interpret applicable standards, regulations, and codes in a global society.
- Conduct an accident investigation including root cause analysis and development of a corrective action plan.
Accreditation
The Occupational Safety - Safety Management degree at the University of Central Missouri is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET and is a Qualified Academic Program (QAP) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
