To ensure thorough understanding of degree and graduation requirements, students are required to meet with an Advisor before their record will be updated. In this appointment, an advisor can answer questions about the degree program, update the student's curriculum record in the student information system, and assist with degree planning based on the new declaration.

Career Opportunities

After successful completion of the degree in Elementary Education - Teacher Certification in Grades EC-6 Core Subjects with ESL from Texas State University and passing scores on the required certification exams, graduates can apply for EC-6 ESL Generalist teacher certification. The EC-6 Generalist certification makes you eligible to teach in an Elementary School setting in Texas, as the teacher of record for all core subjects.

Any teacher who holds an initial valid Texas classroom teaching certificate and a bachelor's degree can later add additional classroom certification areas by completing the appropriate examination(s).

You must apply for admission online using through ApplyTexas or Coalition for College (we will not accept mail-in forms).
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions charges a nonrefundable application fee of $90.
You must submit full transcripts (records of ALL courses taken and marks earned for each semester of both secondary school and college), as well as graduation or school-leaving exam results.
Have the testing service send your scores directly to Texas State University. English proficiency tests will need to be mailed by the testing service.
