Overview
The Psychology programme at the University of Denver provides students with a rigorous scientific framework to explore the complexities of the human mind and behaviour. By combining theoretical study with practical laboratory experience, the curriculum prepares undergraduates for advanced academic pursuits or professional roles in health and research.
Students benefit from a curriculum that emphasises the relationship between the brain and body, particularly through the lens of cognitive neuroscience. The programme is structured to build essential research skills, allowing learners to apply the scientific method to diverse psychological phenomena while gaining a deep understanding of developmental and social dynamics.
Why Psychology at the University of Denver?
The university is home to award-winning faculty members who are both prestigious researchers and dedicated teachers. Students have access to state-of-the-art laboratories and modern research equipment, ensuring they gain hands-on experience with biological methods used to assess emotional and cognitive functioning.
Beyond the classroom, the institution offers unique opportunities for engagement through the Frontiers in Psychological Science Colloquium Series. This series brings in a range of experts to discuss contemporary issues, while student organisations like the Psychology Club and Psi Chi Honors Society foster a vibrant academic community.
For those seeking a specialised path, an optional concentration in cognitive neuroscience is available through a joint effort with the Department of Biological Sciences. This pathway allows for an in-depth exploration of how complex behaviour is mediated by the brain, providing an excellent foundation for medical school or neuroscience careers.
