Philosophy of Science at University of Utah is concerned with the foundations, methods, and implications of science. This includes identifying what distinguishes good science from bad, the effectiveness and reliability of scientific theories, and the ultimate purpose of science.

Academic and Career Opportunities

For additional academic enrichment, complete an undergraduate research course or attend a philosophy-related event: the Department of Philosophy Annual Conference Series and the Intermountain West Student Philosophy Conference are both held annually. Students may also get involved in their department by joining the Philosophy Club or Women in Philosophy. The Philosophy of Science major might be of great interest to students pursuing STEM or social science majors as it is a great way to enhance those majors by implementing skills that will set students apart when applying for jobs, graduate schools, or professional programs.
