Working within a multidisciplinary department made up of designers, environmental psychologists, scientists, and technologists, in this Design and Environmental Analysis student at Cornell University you’ll learn to approach design challenges from multiple perspectives.

As you research evidence-based design choices, you’ll learn how to solve problems through design and make spaces work more effectively for those who use them. You’ll explore the latest approaches to sustainability, learning how to anticipate potential environmental impacts and create designs that support and enhance the surrounding natural world.

The integrative, flexible curriculum provides a substantive design education starting with a common core of foundation courses. Students then build expertise in a focus area, choosing electives from the broad course offerings within Human Ecology and at Cornell to support their individual goals. Students can also elect to complete a minor or honors thesis or pursue an off-campus study experience. It is one of the few comparable programs that are STEM-certified.
