Overview
The curriculum of the Industrial Engineering program of the University at Buffalo is designed to meet several educational objectives. These program education objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe the expected accomplishments of graduates within a few years after graduation. Specific PEOs for Industrial Engineering are:

- Served in informal or formal leadership roles in their professional activities.
- Worked effectively on diverse teams
- Pursued professional development activities such as graduate study and continuing education
Program Learning Outcomes
The curriculum provides opportunities for students to develop the following knowledge, skills, and behaviors by the time of graduation:
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
The MBA component of the curriculum is designed so that students will:
- Develop knowledge and skills essential for effective management.
- Be able to analyze complex information in order to make informed, ethical decisions with the consideration of various stakeholders.
- Be effective team members, will develop essential communication skills, and will develop cultural competence for a global environment.

- Admission to UB’s freshman class is selective and is based in part on the quality of your secondary school academic record and the number of spaces available in the class
- You should feel confident applying to UB if you have an above-average academic record and have taken challenging courses in high school to help prepare you to be successful at university
- UB uses a 4.0 grading scale and we expect students applying here to have the equivalent of a 3.0 on that scale. That is the same as a grade of B or 83 on a 100-point scale
