Overview

For the BFA, you will be professionally trained in a primary studio category of your choice, as well as take courses in theatre studies and the liberal arts. Faculty and program leaders have worked together to design an undergraduate curriculum that balances theory with practice and skills with knowledge, giving you the foundation you need as a performing arts administrator.

The BFA incorporates New York City's incomparable theatrical resources into your course work in acting, directing, musical performance, production, design, and stage management. Your undergraduate studies will be enriched by general education courses in the humanities and sciences, drawing from the intellectual assets of NYU.

During your senior year, you will begin taking graduate courses that count simultaneously toward your BFA and your MA, saving you time and money. To complete the MA program of study, you’ll take a mix of industry-specific courses in arts management and related disciplines and management courses at the NYU Stern School of Business or the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. You’ll also complete internships at leading New York City organizations and a culminating experience.

Careers and Outcomes

At the completion of this Theatre and Performing Arts Administration BFA/MA dual degree New York University, you will have learned how to imagine creative solutions to emergent problems, think critically, communicate effectively, and manage both human and material resources.
