You’ll take liberal arts, mathematics, and computer science courses in NYU's College of Arts and Science, and teaching methods and curriculum courses at NYU Steinhardt. Throughout your course work, you will learn:

Pedagogical and core content knowledge in teaching mathematics in grades 7–12
Skills and strategies for teaching mathematics at the middle and secondary school levels
Approaches for working with adolescent learners in middle and high schools
Issues of gender and ethnicity in mathematics education
Strategies to help underrepresented students surmount learning barriers

Careers and Outcomes

This Teaching Mathematics Grades 7-12, Initial Certification BSc program from New York University leads to eligibility for initial teaching certification in Teaching Mathematics, grades 7–12, in New York State. You’ll also be qualified to teach mathematics in grades 5 and 6, and be ready to take on careers such as:

Teacher of mathematics in middle and high schools
Mathematics curriculum specialist, coordinator, or evaluator in middle and high schools
