Program Overview
The B.F.A. Studio Art - Art Therapy from Ohio University is a professional studio degree that fosters the development of studio artists and creative thinkers. Students take courses in Foundations, Art History and Studio that include topics ranging from historical through contemporary issues in art, technical demonstrations, and rigorous critiques of student work. Visiting artists, field trips, exhibitions, collaborative projects and community engagement are also important aspects of the program.Opportunities Upon Graduation
B.F.A. in Studio Art majors are competitive in art-related careers and experiences, such as: studio artist, artist-in-residence, museum and gallery work, graduate study, studio assistant, commissioned artwork, solo/group exhibitions, entrepreneurs, studio co-ops, grant writers, community project leaders, public artwork competitions, and work in other creative fields. Students with the Art Therapy concentration will be prepared to pursue a graduate degree in Art Therapy, as well as positions within the blossoming field of Arts and Health.Admissions Information
Students interested in the B.F.A. in Studio Art major will first enter the School of Art + Design as a B.A. in Studio Art major. Students will then complete the Foundations Program and four, 2000-level studio art courses in preparation for their application to the B.F.A. Two of the four, 2000-level studio courses taken must be in the student's selected concentration Area: Ceramics, Painting + Drawing, Photography + Integrated Media, Printmaking, Sculpture + Expanded Practice, or Art Therapy.Programme Structure

General requirements
- Applicants must meet general University admission guidelines to enroll in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) major. Additionally, a portfolio review is required for admission consideration for the B.F.A.
- Students apply to the BFA Studio Art program, either as an incoming student or as a current student. This process requires submission of a digital portfolio of 5-10 original works.
- Application form
- Academic records from every institution you have attended, with a certified or attested translation if the original document is not in English.
- Evidence of sufficient funding to support your educational and living expenses for a 9-month period.
- Statement of activities
- For students studying an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, we generally expect an average of 5 out of 7 on your college-preparatory curriculum. IB Higher Level examinations may also be eligible for transfer credit.
