Program Overview

The B.A. English Major from Ohio University, offered through Honors Tutorial College, as a whole centers on the mutual engagement of student and tutor in the study of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama, including the historical and cultural contexts of these works. Students take an introductory tutorial, three tutorials in British and American literature, two specialized tutorials in an area of interest, and two semesters of tutorials focused on writing an honors thesis.

Opportunities Upon Graduation

Most graduates of the honors tutorial program in English pursue advanced degrees in law, business, library and information science, and English studies at the master's and doctoral level. Graduates also develop careers in publishing, newswriting, and administration, participate in teaching and service programs, including the Peace Corps and Teach for America; and perform research and writing for corporate and nonprofit organizations.
