Overview

The B.Mus. Music Performance - Voice at Ohio University majors are prepared to perform repertoire from all periods available to their instrument or voice. Experience in solo, chamber music, and large ensemble performance is required.

The program is a pre-professional course of study that prepares students to pursue advanced graduate degree programs in performance, to engage in professional performance activities, or to establish private teaching studios.

Admission Requirements and Process

The undergraduate voice audition is about 15 minutes in length. Applicants for all vocal programs (Performance, Music Education, Music Therapy, and the Bachelor of Arts) are required to:

Perform one song in English from memory.
Perform one song in Italian, German or French from memory.
- Suggested Repertoire for Foreign Language Songs
  - Italian: selections from 28 Italian Songs and Areas or selections by Donaudy or Handel
  - German: songs by Brahms, Schubert, Clara Schumann, or Robert Schumann
  - French: songs by Fauré or Hahn
Demonstrate sight-reading proficiency on one short melodic and one rhythmic exercise.
Complete a short interview with Q&A with the voice faculty.
