Overview

Elementary educators with ESL expertise have the unique teaching skills necessary to assist diverse groups of students on their educational paths. The Elementary Education - English as a Second Language Emphasis at The University of Arizona prepares students to improve the education and lives of all children, including English language learners. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Education, students in the program also earn an Elementary Certificate K-8 with an ESL endorsement.

Throughout the program, undergraduates split time between the University of Arizona and a local K-8 school, where they gain firsthand experience through student teaching. At the elementary school, students work with diverse populations of children and educators who are invested in supporting new teachers.

Career

Graduates teach in public and private elementary schools in grades K-8 in Arizona and other states. Other graduates have gone on to graduate school in counseling, special education, and policy studies.
