In our Biology program, you'll have an amazing experience. For one, you'll be taught by our world-renowned faculty and scientists in state-of-the-art laboratories. You can even do fieldwork at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab on Alabama's Gulf Coast or in the Bahamas, Costa Rica, the Galápagos Islands, or Antarctica. Once you've completed your program track—Integrated Biology, Marine Science, or Molecular Biology—you'll have the prerequisites you need for medical, dental, optometry, or pharmacy school. You can even get certified to teach biology or general science through the UABTeach program.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham biology faculty are frequent travelers to Antarctica, where they conduct research on marine life beneath the icy waters. The continent's McClintock Point is named for James McClintock, PhD, UAB Endowed Professor of Polar or Marine Biology.
