Industrial and Systems Engineering emerged as a profession to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of these operations. Since its inception, industrial and systems engineering has grown to encompass a wide variety of occupational areas including manufacturing, logistics, financial, and healthcare institutions.

ABET Student Outcomes

The student outcomes, measured in terms of the knowledge and skills the graduates of the Industrial and Systems Engineering program from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University are expected to demonstrate at graduation are: an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics ;

an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors;
an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences;
an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts;

Programme Structure

The objectives of the BSISE program are to produce graduates who:

apply technical and business skills based on industrial and systems engineering principles for a variety of employers in the manufacturing and service industries;

apply systems engineering methods and information technology tools;

lead and function in interdisciplinary, culturally and/or globally diverse teams;

contribute to their communities, the profession of industrial and systems engineering, and the University; and

engage in lifelong learning, including the pursuit of graduate studies.
