The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) from Moraine Valley Community College is a  degree intended for students transferring to a four-year program or those with a strong interest in visual art.  The A.F.A. in Art degree consists of a high concentration of art coursework with liberal arts general education courses. Careful planning in consultation with counselors and art instructors concerning course sequence, program admission, and transfer institution requirements is essential.

Programme Structure


  • You can transfer credits from Moraine Valley's Art program to most four-year colleges or universities across the country. 
  • The college is proud to partner with four-year colleges and universities to ensure a seamless transfer experience for its students who desire to earn a bachelor’s degree. We currently have 2+ 2 agreements with Lincoln College and Western Illinois University in addition to our always growing articulation agreements.

    The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. It accurately measures how well you can listen, read and write in English while performing academic tasks.

General Requirements

  • $25 one-time, non-refundable application fee
  • No English proficiency required for admission. Students will be tested in English upon arrival and placed in our Intensive English Language Program if needed. Students who have a TOEFL scores of 525 paper based, 197 computer based, or 71 internet based, or above and present official TOEFL transcripts; or an IELTS of 5.5 or above, you will be eligible to waive the placement test and register in regular academic college classes from their program of study.

Students must verify a minimum of $21,707 or the equivalent available for tuition and living expenses. The Financial Sponsor or student must submit a bank letter of bank statement at the time of applying.
