Overview

At Musical Theatre from Roosevelt University students take dance classes twice a week, along with free extracurricular dance classes available to those who are interested.

One of the most unique features of the programme is that we offer outstanding musical theatre performance training while also examining theatrical craft, literature and history through a social justice lens. Roosevelt University was founded on a mission of social justice, and that focus is centered throughout our students’ academic and artistic studies at CCPA.

An Arts Education in the Heart of Chicago

Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, CCPA is just steps away from Chicago's bustling theatre district and the Tony award-winning Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Lookingglass Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre — and students have graced the stages of them all.

Theatre Conservatory alumni are currently gracing stages on Broadway, national and international tours, regional theaters and cruise ships as well as Disney and Universal Studios theme parks, both in the U.S. and Asia.

Career Opportunities for Musical Theatre

There are many performance opportunities for our students both on campus and off.

The Theatre Conservatory production season provides students with many exciting and challenging casting opportunities, student-led work is encouraged, and it is even possible to audition for professional work in Chicago as an upperclassman.

Upperclassmen in good standing are allowed to audition for productions outside of CCPA, adding valuable professional credits to their resumes prior to graduation.
