Overview

To support the program's expansion, the Department is filling two new tenure track positions in Environmental Studies. While being members of the Bi-College ENVS Department, the new hires will join the Bryn Mawr College faculty and will be based at Bryn Mawr. After several years of planning involving students, faculty and administration from Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges, we have collaboratively developed a major plan that arises from a guiding question: How might we, individually and as a society, find new ways to understand and address the severe environmental challenges that now face our world?

Our evolving vision for an Environmental Studies department and major entails strengthening old—as well as developing new—academic structures and procedures, ones that can transcend conventional boundaries of academic expertise and resources. We aim to model instead a variety of cooperative and equitable approaches needed to sustain a prosperous world in the 21st century and after. The Environmental Studies program is offered at Bryn Mawr College.
