Middle Childhood through Early Adolescence (MCEA)

Special emphasis is placed on fieldwork in schools and developing skills to work with children who may vary widely in background and educational need. To qualify for a license to teach at the middle level, students with an MC/EA emphasis must complete all program courses in an approved minor plus possible additional licensure requirements for that minor.

Students completing the Elementary Education - Middle Childhood or Early Adolescence program of University of Wisconsin - Whitewater receive a regular education license from DPI to teach:
  • Grades 1 - 6
  • Grades 7 - 8: all subjects in self-contained elementary school
  • Grades 7 - 8: language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health and/or the minor in a departmentalized middle or intermediate school
