Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre is a liberal arts degree which offers the opportunity for broad-based exposure to all areas of theatre. The curriculum includes studies in acting, directing, technology, design, history/criticism, and management/promotion.

Students of the Theatre program of University of Wisconsin - Whitewater enjoy the privilege and responsibility of being able to participate in all aspects of the season's productions through different technical, design, performance, and management opportunities. Rapidly becoming one of the most respected and mentioned Theatre/Dance programs in the state, the UW-Whitewater Theatre/Dance Department brings excitement to the stage through its pursuit of excellence in the performing arts.

Student Opportunities

The UW-Whitewater Theatre/Dance Department is proud of its tradition of learning-by-doing and its hand's-on education.  Part of that process are the opportunities in which our students may avail themselves, to continue their learning outside of the classrooms, rehearsal spaces and the shops.  Our department has a long tradition of participation in both the American College Dance and Theatre Festivals, bringing the best of our student work to the region and letting our students experience the work of other students like themselves.  Our students also participate in the Undergraduate Research Program, helping to bring recognition to the arts on campus.  Through Theta Alpha Phi and the UWW Dance Company, our students gain valuable experience in leading their own groups, creating their own art, and helping to serve the department.  All of these opportunities help to make the educational experience at UW-Whitewater as strong as it possibly can be!
