The importance of the Middle East in world affairs has grown in the past decade, and so has the need for workers who are trained in Arabic language and culture.

Key facts

Many graduates of the Arabic and Middle East Studies major at Baylor University find jobs in journalism, international business and industry, government and foreign service. Others find jobs in translating, interpreting or consulting. A number of students have also gone on to complete graduate studies in similar areas.

Students are encouraged to study abroad. Arabic and Middle East Studies majors have a unique opportunity to study abroad at the American University in Cairo or Al Akhawayn University in Morocco.

Official transcripts can be mailed from your high school in a sealed and signed envelope or sent digitally through a secure electronic source (Slate.org, Parchment, CommonApp, or TRex).

Applicants from schools with external exams or leaving certificates should have their exams or certificates submitted to Baylor directly from the testing agency (IGCSE, GCE, WAEC, CBSE, IB, etc.).

Students applying from secondary schools outside of the U.S. are not required to submit standardized test scores for admission to Baylor;
