The NHP is designed to create an intellectual experience to enhance the education of high-achieving, academically-gifted undergraduate nursing majors to develop nursing leaders, scholars and life-long learners.
The Nursing Honors Program from University of Tennessee Knoxville provides a strong foundation for baccalaureate students planning to pursue graduate education. The NHP complements university-level honors programs including the Haslam Scholars and Chancellor’s Honors Programs.

General requirements

Full-time BSN students who have an earned GPA in the top 10 % of their class will be invited in the Spring semester of their sophomore year to apply to enter the program beginning in the Fall semester of their junior year. The Honor’s Program Admission Committee review applications, make decisions, and notify selected students by the end of the Spring semester.
All students admitted to the Chancellor’s Honors (CHP) or Haslam Scholars programs will automatically be eligible for the NHP provided they are in good academic standing with the CON and with CHP or Haslam Scholars programs.
Students accepted into the program must remain in good academic standing, with a GPA of at least 3.5, receive a B- or higher in all nursing courses, and complete all courses in the program of study.
