Carson-Newman University’s Exercise Science program is unique as we provide undergraduates career experience as they can work with the varsity athletic teams in technique analysis, data collection, and performance support.

Our service learning classes partner exercise science students with local teams, fitness groups, and individuals needing coaching to integrate classroom learning into community support. Partnerships include high school FCAs, elderly fitness, and children’s workouts.

The department of Physical Education and Exercise Science's mission is to communicate and create knowledge about the management, pedagogy, and science of sport and physical activity.  As educated citizens, our graduates will preserve a successful ministry in their chosen fields as worldwide servant-leaders.  This mission will be achieved through innovative and engaging instruction, practical experience, service learning, scholarship, and professional service.
