The most popular application of this knowledge is in forecasting the weather. However, weather information and meteorological research is also applied in air pollution control, agriculture, air and sea transportation, defense, and the study of trends in climate such as global warming or ozone depletion. Many Bachelor of Science in Meteorology at North Carolina State University graduates find employment with the (federal government) National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-National Weather Service and the Department of Defense. Employment is also found with media outlets, research organizations, and private consulting firms.
