Overview
Why Dance from AU
Anderson University (South Carolina)’s approach to your dance studies is unique in that you are not limited to one genre. Your studies require 120 credits through which you will study ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and modern dance. All our performance degrees have the unique feature of giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents. Each fall and spring, students can audition for dance ensembles and student choreography projects that perform in our main stage Dance Concerts. In addition, students can perform in AU’s annual Christmas First Night, President’s Gala, and fall theater musicals.
This Dance program at Anderson University (South Carolina) emphasizes a rigorous studio curriculum that incorporates a strong liberal arts education and understanding of movement. Students also take Kinesiology courses to gain skills in the care and prevention of exercise injuries. We believe that we offer the best of both worlds combining our faith with our high standards of studies.
Our program develops the whole dancer, integrating the physical with the intellectual, and the analytical with the expressive. Students train in a range of styles with core faculty and visiting artists gaining new perspectives about dance.
The Bachelor of Arts degree program prepares future dancers, choreographers, educators, and scholars through a core curriculum that includes traditional and experimental techniques, creative exploration, historical and aesthetic context, technology, and production skills.
