At English from Avila University, the study of English and rhetoric is more vital than ever to prepare students for changes in technology, culture, and the workplace.

About the program

We encourage experiential learning, so students have the opportunity to travel domestically and abroad, to collaborate with other disciplines, and to get hands-on experience by tutoring in our Writing Center or the production of our literary magazine.

We offer two concentrations within the English program of Avila University: Literature, and Writing and Rhetoric. Also available is a Minor in English or a Certificate in Writing and Rhetoric. Upon graduation, our majors are prepared for a range of opportunities, including education, public affairs, law school, journalism, politics, publishing, editing, creative writing, business, and graduate school.
