The Theatre program at Elmira College enables you to experience every aspect of theatre – costume, set, sound, lighting design, stage management, marketing, acting, and directing.

Small classes mean we can give you the individual attention that will prepare you for a wide range of careers or further study.

The unique Term III offers the opportunity to experience the "real world," fast-paced environment of theatre production. This intensive collaboration between faculty and students provides an unforgettable immersion in theatre.

The Theatre curriculum is designed to immerse you in the knowledge and the practice of theatre.

EC Theatre offers you a range of courses in both technical theatre and performance as well as frequent production in our two theatre spaces – Watson Arena, a flexible black box space, and Gibson Theatre, our 400-seat proscenium theatre.

Careers and opportunities

Recent Theatre graduates are working as a Production Tour Manager and in merchandise for national tours, as a Business Representative and Contract Associate at Actors Equity, as well as Production Stage Manager and Company Managers in regional theatre.

Graduates also perform extra work on various TV and film productions, are cast members at Disney, and are working actors in New York City and Los Angeles. In addition, Theatre graduates have found work in education, arts administration, business, law, and many other fields.

International students can apply online using the Elmira College Application or the Common Application.

English Proficiency (International/Non-Native English Speaking Students)

All students must submit an official transcript of courses taken during secondary school. If you have not graduated yet, transcripts should show the most recent results available. Provide translation of transcripts in English.

Applicants who are currently attending university should submit official transcripts of all post-secondary academic work, along with a Dean of Students Form from the Dean of Students at all institutions that have been attended.

The student should submit at least one letter of recommendation from someone who knows them in an academic sense, such as a teacher or academic counselor.
