Overview

As an early childhood/special education major, you will be prepared for certification to teach children from birth through second grade in regular and special education settings. You’ll learn and apply principles and practices that are developmentally appropriate to each student’s age, personal skills and the individual sociocultural context he or she has experienced.

Building on this foundation, you will learn to understand the responses of each child to help smooth their transition to formal schooling. This degree will prepare you to teach a diverse child population, with opportunities for employment in schools, agencies and other settings.

  • Official Transcript with GPA: If you’re applying to come to Keuka College as a freshman, send us your high school transcript.
  • A Letter of Recommendation: This can come from a teacher, counselor, principal, coach, minister, etc. 
  • English Test Scores: TOEFL or IELTS scores are required (minimum 59 TOEFL IBT and 5.0 IELTS) for all international applicants whose educational instruction was not in English.
  • Copy of Your Passport: Plus submit a copy of the identification page of your passport. It must be within six months of its expiration date.
