Here, you’ll prepare to teach second through sixth graders and graduate with a deep understanding of the central concepts, principles, theories, and research related to childhood development.

You’ll be ready to address elementary students’ diverse needs in the classroom while demonstrating a Christ-centered ethic of care toward learners, yourself, your colleagues, and the community you serve.

Four field experiences with different grade levels and school cultures will support you in integrating your faith while delivering effective, engaging instruction in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

The Association for Childhood Education International and the South Carolina Department of Education recognize the Elementary Education degree.

High school transcript,

SAT or ACT score(s) or utilize SWU’s test optional admissions policy.

A GPA of 2.3 (or rank in upper half of your graduating class at time of acceptance) and a composite SAT score of 860 (based on the critical reading/verbal and math sections) or an ACT score of 18 or CLT score of 54

Or a GPA of 3.0 or higher and no test scores
