Overview

The Department of Modern Languages offers a major and minor in Spanish and provides courses in French for students interested in it as a second language. The program equips students with the necessary foreign language skills, cultural understanding, and sensitivity to prepare them for graduate studies, employment, and to function in our increasingly global and diverse society.

The Spanish program provides high quality instruction from elementary through advanced levels and offers a wide variety of courses in language, literature, film and culture, as well as study abroad experiences to accommodate students’ needs. The program strives to ensure that FSC students gain a working knowledge of a second language, which is a vital and practical skill for many careers in business, education, social services, health care, and the government.
