Overview

The Studio Arts from The University of St. Thomas (UST) features different theatre venues, affording diverse theatre experiences for both audiences and students. Our drama department is the home to Stoic Theatre, Houston's only professional and student collaborative theatre company. The productions draw large and supportive campus and community audiences, frequently showcasing sell-out performances.

Careers

Students who graduate are prepared for careers in theatre, film, design, directing, playwriting, stage management, teaching, voice over, or a wide variety of other professions. the students easily transition into the professional world and are represented by a number of different acting agencies across the country.

Students present original works and capstone projects, as well as participating in local, graduate school, and national professional auditions such as Houston Alliance, URTA, and SETC. UST Drama also participates in ACTF competitions.

General requirements

An official transcript of high school work, home school program or an official copy of a GED certificate.
Standardized test scores for either the SAT or ACT (UST school code for SAT is 6880 and for ACT is 4238) The Classical Learning Test is also accepted. Students seeking test–optional admission should speak with a UST Admissions Counselor
A one page personal essay discussing why the applicant is interested in UST, what he/she plans to study, and why he/she will be an asset to the UST community.
Students five years, or beyond, high school/high school equivalent completion who have not taken a standardized test are not required to submit test scores.
