Overview

You will write your own history and share it with students and faculty from campuses across the region. You will go on to a career in the classroom, the courtroom, the archives, the board room, or on board our nation’s naval vessels. Study History at Saint Vincent College and you will embark on a lifetime of learning and adventure.

What Can I Do With a Major in History?

Recent history majors have gone on to the following activities after graduation:
  • Teaching social studies in high schools, middle schools, and junior high schools in such places in western Pennsylvania as Peters Township, Jefferson Hills, Seneca Valley, Norwin, Latrobe, and Butler, as well as in districts in Maryland, Virginia, and Florida.
  • Continuing study at such graduate and law schools as Syracuse University, Johns Hopkins University, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon University, Baylor University, North Carolina State University, West Virginia University, Washington and Lee University Law School, the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Duquesne University Law School, and
  • Working in government offices such as the Social Security Administration, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Central Intelligence Agency.
  • Working in private industry
  • Serving in the nation’s armed services

  • Complete Application for Admission.
  • Complete Supplemental Application (also under Tools section)
  • Submit original or certified copies of the original and official academic record, transcript or examination results for the completion of secondary education. Official documents not issued in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
  • Submit the application fee of $25 or waiver form.
  • Submit an official result of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Test System (IELTS). TOEFL score of 79 on the IBT and 6.5 on the IELTS or higher is required for applicants.
  • The SAT is NOT required.
  • Writing sample or essay.
  • Scanned copy of passport photo page.
