The Physical Education Teacher Education program at the University of North Georgia includes coursework in elementary, middle, and high school pedagogy, curriculum planning, health pedagogy, adapted teaching techniques, sports skill and teaching development, and a variety of internship opportunities.

UNG PETE has consistently ranked as a top-tier PETE program by the State of Georgia per the Georgia Preparation Program Effectiveness Measures score.

Features

Students successfully completing this program will be recommended for a Georgia Teaching License in Health & Physical Education (P-12).
This license will qualify the student to teach both health & physical education from pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade.
Before UNG can recommend a student for a teaching license, the student must provide evidence of a passing score on the GACE Content examination.

16 or older before the first day of class.
You must be a high school graduate.
You must prove English proficiency.
International applicants who are considered as a traditional freshman (graduated from high school less than 5 years ago) or considered as a freshman/transfer (graduated from high school less than 5 years ago and have less than 30 transferable college hours) must submit official SAT or ACT scores and meet traditional freshman criteria.
If you are required to complete Accuplacer testing, please note that the Accuplacer testing will need to be completed before an admissions decision is made. If you are located close to a UNG campus – you can complete this testing at UNG’s Dahlonega, Gainesville or Oconee campus. If you are located outside of Georgia or the US, please contact UNG’s Testing Center to schedule a remote Accuplacer test.
