Overview
Why Edinboro stands out
At Pennsylvania Western University, we pride ourselves on our 100-year history of instruction in the visual arts and art education. In addition, our Art Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD), which sets national standards for excellence in the field.
With the Woodworking and Furniture Design program from Pennsylvania Western University you'll gain experience using a wide variety of hand and power tools, completing assignments on topics such as chair design, box and cabinet construction, bending wood and designing for production.
Learn by studying the work of major designers and artists, then develop your own designs through sketching, model making and creating full-scale drawings. You can apply for a variety of internships and make professional connections as you travel to attend conferences, view exhibitions and visit professional furniture design studios.
Throughout the process, professors will emphasize creative problemsolving, craftsmanship and innovation in design so you will be well-prepared for a career in the woodworking and furniture design field.
There is no portfolio review prior to admission. Just bring your passion for the arts and a desire to work hard in a multidisciplinary, highly supportive environment.
