About this program

At Penn College, we do business differently. You won’t learn foundations or theories strictly from a textbook. Our hands-on approach gets you thinking and doing. Sure, you’ll dig into core business principles in the classroom. But the real learning happens when you put those ideas to practice through lab exercises and collaborative assignments.

Want to focus on a specific area of business? Narrow your focus with an optional specialization in: Management, Sport & Event Management, Digital Marketing/Marketing, or Banking & Finance.

The Business Administration - Banking and Finance program at Pennsylvania College of Technology prepares students with the skills necessary to meet the business demands of today and the future. The curriculum provides a solid business core that includes an extensive background in the functional areas of marketing, finance, accounting, human resources, operations, and management. The major focuses on integrating theory and practice so that graduates possess an understanding of the internal and external business environment, including economic, legal, behavioral, ethical, and strategic aspects. The ability to communicate, integrate and synthesize information from the various business disciplines using knowledge and skills in information systems, decision making, quantitative analysis and financial modeling complete the major.

The program allows, but does not require, students to select one of four specialization tracks described below. Each specialization requires a specific series of six business track electives which could include accounting, finance, management, marketing, information systems, small business management and entrepreneurship, and sport and event management. Students will work closely with their advisers to select the appropriate courses to meet their career goals. Students may use foundational coursework in the first two years to determine what type of specialization appeals to their career interests. Career Opportunities

Graduates have employment opportunities in a wide variety of supervisory/management positions, including administrative services, first-line supervisors, industrial production and manufacturing, and purchasing managers, buyers, and agents. Most graduates are employed with locally owned firms, including family businesses. Course specializations will also provide avenues to careers in sport and event management, management, digital marketing and banking and finance areas. Opportunities to participate in a global experience program in Austria afford graduates the skills and abilities to seek positions with multi-national corporations, and internship opportunities with a business of the student’s choice which further increases a graduate's marketability.
